So often, these star-meets-orchestra projects are like parachutes passing in the night, but when Norwegian saxophonist Marius Neset arrived to play with the London Sinfonietta, he didn't just bring his horn - he brought the music too.

Specifically, he brought a set of charts that he had been working on for the last three years - dense, expansive, filmic scores which trace a meandering line through 20th century composition. The mercurial 31-year-old also had the good sense to bring his talented quartet with pianist Ivo Neame, bassist Peter Eldh and drummer Anton Eger, who supply the grooves.

Above it all, one of the freshest and most inventive saxophonists of the last 20 years is clearly enjoying himself, as will anyone with, you know, ears.
