Thanks to the gloriously hypnotic Sonnentanz and how it snared many different audiences on the back of a few different releases and versions, Tobias Rieser and Adrian Held enjoyed a dancefloor smash and all that came with it. The trick for the Austrian duo on their debut album Netzwerk is to come up with a couple of other tracks capable of doing the same thing, which will also ensure that they're not totally reliant on their trump card. The title track is the closest they come to hitting the same high mark, with the Salif Keita samples creating a slinky mood-board for what they have in mind. Elsewhere, though, there's the strong sense of an act trying many different things for size from house to drum 'n' bass in an effort to find the elusive formula, but nothing quite rings true in the same way. Guess they're going to have to rely on synch fees from Sonnentanz to pay the bills for a while longer. klangkarussell.com Download: Sonnentanz
