Cerulean, Anticon
What's most striking about Will Wiesenfeld's debut album is how far and wide he spreads the musical net. You'll find hints of the hazy, washed out (and
Washed Out) chillwave sounds of the moment, traces of DJ Shadow's blunted funk, and a spot of bleepy electronica tick-tack-toe by way of FlyLo or HudMo. Wiesenfeld doesn't allow any of these styles to dominate or overshadow the proceedings to the detriment of the rest of the album.
The 21-year-old LA producer is a relative newcomer, but he's already exhibiting a masterly grasp on when to hold 'em and when to fold 'em when it comes to sonic trickery.
Maximalistis a key example of this, Wiesenfeld inserting unexpected psychedelic pop spikes into a widesceen, slightly warped electronic groove. Elsewhere,

Lovely Bloodfloware beautifully sculpted visions of a new break of dawn.
