The Fall Self release ***

Written and recorded during the band's US tour a few months ago, The Fallis best viewed as Damon Albarn's on-the-road notebook rather than a fully fledged Gorillaz affair. You can imagine some of these sketches eventually being turned into tracks that could dovetail with the technicolour vigour of the band's live show. But, for now, The Fallis akin to Democrazy(2003) an album of demos also recorded by Albarn in US hotel rooms when he toured with Blur. Albarn has been on one hell of a creative run of late and the ideas are there in abundance, even as rough drafts. Bobby in Phoenixhas current Gorillaz cast member Bobby Womack throwing vocal light over the subtle, bluesy guitar notes, while Revolving Doors pulls you closer to the action with its wisps of unruffled, understated melodies.
