Continuing his successful collaboration with the director of Batman Beginsand The Dark Knight, Zimmer's score to Christopher Nolan's new film signals a remarkable experiment for the maverick composer. Zimmer boldly reinvents his signature 1990s sound (think The Rockor Crimson Tide) into something darker and stranger, combining spare themes and propulsive rhythms with orchestral strings and horns, electric guitar (played by Johnny Marr) and jittery electronica.

Merging character and action cues into a compellingly diverse but stylistically cohesive score, simultaneously dramatic and lyrical, adrenalin-pumping and heart-aching.
