is Hildegard of Bingen, the 12th-century German mystic and abbess whose profile as a composer has developed in recent decades to dwarf those of her contemporaries.

The piece is for solo violin with pre-recorded soundtrack, and is running as a theatrical “multisensory collaboration across disciplines” at Dublin’s Project Arts Centre until tomorrow night. It’s in 13 titled movements that mostly cast the violin in the spotlight. The adaptable Ioana Petcu-Colan handles string writing that engages in a Kronos Quartet-like reach of stylistic embrace against backgrounds that range from the new agey to evocations of mundane domestic tasks.
