They may have sold 35 million albums during their 18-year existence, but Korn well know that experimentation and innovation is the key to staying relevant. Once acknowledged as pioneers of the nu-metal genre, the 10th album by the Californians adds electronic elements to their formula of robust industrial riffs. Metal and drum and bass sound like horrific bedfellows in theory but, surprisingly, this isn't all bad. Enlisting trendy dubstep producer Skillrex on three tracks unexpectedly turns up the best results, particularly when he blends sharp, shrill beats with Jonathan Davis's garbled vocals on Get Up!Other offerings steered by additional producers are clumsy, unimaginative and difficult to listen to at times, but the chinks of originality peppered throughout this album means that Korn may have life in them yet.
