Will Holland has gone native – and that’s something to applaud. Since moving from his UK base to to Cali, Colombia, the Quantic and Quantic Soul Orchestra frontman has added several new layers to the heavyweight funk and deep soul he’s favoured since The 5th Exotic album a decade ago. Los Miticos del Ritmo are a seven- strong bunch of Cali vallenato and cumbia musicians who could probably raise the roof with ease of their accord. But marshalled by Holland and adding spice to a couple of well-seasoned pop tunes (including Another One Bites the Dust and Don’t Stop Till You Get Enough), the band produce a run of deliberately oddball, disorientatingly off-kilter, butt-moving dancefloor killers.
