Marc Carroll

Stone beads and Silver One Little Indian ****

Stone beads and Silver One Little Indian****

Sometimes you have to wonder why, despite continuously delivering quality goods, some songwriters and musicians end up on the bottom of the pile, barely remembered or known. Dubliner Marc Carroll has been producing the goods for more than 10 years now – inordinately tuneful pop music (with hints of Americana and folk) have fallen off the back of his lorry without so much as a mild sweat from him or a second glance from the public at large. Yet still he continues. Now in his 40s and based in Los Angeles, Carroll on his latest album veers more towards true Band-like American music, with the playing of musicians Chris Testa and Larry Campbell (in particular) giving the music both space and depth. Another blast of finesse and finery from a wholly underrated talent. marccarroll.com
