Tough Love Transgressive**
With a reputation for raucous live performances and a name that refers to a medieval method of torture, you can guess that Pulled Apart by Horses won't be entering Britain's Got Talentany time soon. The Leeds quartet's second album continues the same well-trodden path of rapid-fire rock, mostly dispensing with melody in favour of brash, punk-laced squalls not unlike those of The Cooper Temple Clause and Biffy Clyro. Songs such as Epic Mythand Everything Dipped in Goldtemper the frantic pace somewhat, providing a foil to Tom Hudson's unpalatable primal shriek, a clamour that becomes less inviting with every listen. But they're not enough to salvage a potentially propulsive album that simply doesn't know when to pull back and allow some breathing space. pulledapartbyhorses.com
