Last year's Projections was a scene-setter and then some, squarely establishing Archie Fairhurst as a producer for creating dazzling sonic tapestries. The follow-up is just as carefully and magically spun, in which Fairhurst's fondness for samples a la The Avalanches and DJ Shadow still spikes the sounds.

Still, there is a bit of a pivot from the funk and soul that coloured the last record to more disco, psych and even trad and folk sources. The resulting tracks are richly embellished and grandly emotive, and the best of them pack quite a punch. Come Close to Me, Je T'aime and L.U.V. are swingers in every sense of the word, prowling the dancefloor with sleek, trippy intent.

Fairhurst clearly knows the atmospheric score when it comes to making tracks zig and zag in all the right ways. facebook.com/romaremusic
