Don't Sit Down 'Cause I've Moved Your Chair
Domino**
"Run with scissors through a chip pan firefight/Wear your shellsuit on bonfire night." If Don't Sit Down 'Cause I've Moved Your Chairwere a mid-1990s French & Saunders Oasis parody, compiled from lyrics that Liam had vetoed as too absurd to sing and riffs Noel deemed too knuckle-headed to play, then I would hail it as a work of genius.
But this is something more perplexing and, alas, rather less impressive. Context, then, is everything.
LADY GAGA
Judas
Interscope ***
The leaking of a provocative, religious-themed Lady Gaga single during Easter week provoked howls of outrage in the US – as was probably the intention. An obvious symbiotic relationship exists between those who thrive on generating controversy and those who take offence for a living. But, without a foot in either camp, it seems more relevant to note how similar Judassounds to Gaga's earlier Bad Romancesingle.

GEORGE MICHAEL
You & I ***
Having sounded almost comatose on his last single (a ketamine-slow version of New Order's True Faith), the veteran singer livens up slightly for this Stevie Wonder cover, released as a "wedding gift" to William and Kate. They'd probably have been happy with a toaster, George!
