The lead single from Lioness: Hidden Treasures, Amy Winehouse's predictable posthumous stocking filler, is a mournful take on Ruby & The Romantics' Our Day Will Come. Producer Salaam Remi has promised Amy's fans that "this isn't a Tupac situation". But watching Winehouse in the video, clearly jiggling about to an entirely different piece of music, it's hard to escape the feeling that it kind of is.

Pitchfork is calling Sean Earl Beard a "synth pop alchemist". That's a couple more qualifiers than we were probably hoping for in this economy, but this is one strange neighbour worth inviting over – not least to figure out which track from The Cure's Disintegrationalbum it most gratuitously rips off. wierdrecords.com

Call the cops, someone’s stolen Bono’s accent! Danny O’Donoghue described The Script’s summer homecoming performance in front of 50,000 fans at the Aviva as a “pinch me moment”. I’ll chalk that one up as a missed opportunity then.

He’s middle aged, out of a record deal and performing in a city (Los Angeles) that would seem single-handedly to disprove this song’s central thesis. But when Moz yelps like a startled seal for two minutes and 51 seconds, well, the years just roll away. teamcoco.com

All I Want For Christmas Is You Island/Def Jam ****

Run Justin! Run for your life! She’s older than Santa Claus! I kid, I kid – though the notion that Mariah Carey is a low- maintenance person to go Christmas shopping with seems dubious in the extreme. But only a fool would deny that this song pisses all over everything else on this page. I’ll admit it: a kitsch classic.
