Singing Adams

Steven Adams could well be talking about his own career when he sings “let’s start again, instead of giving up” on a track from his new outfit’s second album. He formed Singing Adams after the break-up of his UK indie/alt.country also-rans The Broken Family Band, and Moves is certainly a progression, although Adams retains his love of lap steel and harmonies on the flickering folk of See You Around. Elsewhere there is plenty of sure-footed variation in the form of the electronic “bleepy weepy” You Drew a Line, the rocked-up Dead End and simple piano closer What Happens Now?.

But the best tracks are the most uncomplicated. Good Luck and Black Cloud recalls The Shins and Belle and Sebastian, their good-natured jangle and twee refrains creating a feel-good vibe despite their melancholic lyrical undertones. singingadams.com
