The British band who brought us the classic 1960s hits She's Not Thereand Time of the Seasonstill walk the earth, and this year they celebrate their 50th birthday. The current line-up features only two original Zombies – singer Colin Blunstone and keyboard player Rod Argent – but that's enough to make them authentic in any old hippie's eyes. This new album is too slick and AOR-ish to rival their 1968 classic Odesseyand Oracle, but Blunstone's vocals are impressive, and Argent's keyboards drive things along nicely. At various points, you'll be reminded of everyone from Steely Dan to Yes to The Alan Parsons Project to, yes, The Zombies. It may all be a pastiche of the past, but it's done with flair and a lived-in grace. thezombies.net
