Warm Slime
In the Red
****
Keeping track of San Franciso garage-rock desperado John Dwyer's back-catalogue would tax the patience of a saint. Since 1997, he's been in and around a plethora of bands, while Thee Oh Sees have also cranked out at least 10 albums in this time. Earlier releases were both cranky and crackly, but
Warm Slimeis a much more likable mess of the blues and closest to the thrilling fizz and fuzz of TOS's live show. At 14 minutes long, the title track is a bit of a trip, but Dwyer and band keep the jam on an even keel and don't ever let their more ramshackle tendencies distract the momentum as it builds into a magnificent slice of psychedelic head music.
