Producer Adam "X" Mitchell took a break from his trademark "powernoise" industrial nearly two years ago, little realising that his next side project would be career-defining. Mitchell's temporary studio diversion, recording under the Traversable Wormhole guise, captured the prevailing wind, with five releases that straddled the dubstep and underground techno sub-genres. This compilation brings Mitchell's eerie side project to the living room. Unsurprisingly, his industrial lineage is audible on the low- tempo, menacing basslines of opening tracks Tachyonand Superluminal, which underpin metallic percussion and atonal bleeps. While he picks up the pace on Where 2D Meets 3Dand Relativistic Time Dilation, the tough 4/4 beats and evocative chord sequences fail to provide relief from his punishing, claustrophobic basslines.
