Given the sunny 1960s psych tendencies – not to mention the slick name – you might think that Treefight for Sunlight were four tan-lined lads from California. In fact, they hail from Denmark, although it sounds like they've spent time in noughties Brooklyn going to Grizzly Bear gigs ( You and the New World). Either way, these boys want to lasso our hearts and ears with their shimmery, trippy tunes. Three of the four sing, so the songs tend towards vocal-heavy harmonies. Soundtrack pianos worthy of an Oscar heavyweight swirl around A Dream Before Sleepand the beats of Rain Airare rapped out on militaristic drums. The repeat-play centrepiece is single Facing the Sun, which induces compulsory good moods and foot-tapping. And who are we to argue with the woozy synths and sentiments behind The Universe Is a Woman? See treefightfor sunlight.com
