The DJ-Kicks series of mix albums has been a regular on release schedules since 1995, thanks to the heavyweight names who helm the mixes and the unique selling point of a previously unreleased track from the compiler. What you'll find here are 13 such exclusives from acts who've put their names to a DJ-Kicks release in the past five years. As you'd expect from any compilation of this ilk, it's a mixed bag. Some of the tunes, such as Hot Chip's chirpy My Piano and The Juan McLean's woozy, celebratory Feel So Good, possess winning attributes and a certain pedigree that makes you wonder if the acts wish they'd kept the tunes for their own releases. Other tracks sound very much like also-rans: Gold Panda's dull An Iceberg Hurled Northward Through Clouds may well have been destined for the bin had DJ-Kicks not come a-calling.
