Over the past few years, only a handful of South African house cuts have made it beyond the motherland, but they've been enough to pique our attention. Anyone who has heard the thrilling Township Funktitle track from Pretoria producer Mujava will be keen to hear more, and this compilation does a decent job of rounding up some of the heavy hitters.

Like the recent Ayobaness!collection, which covered similar ground, it's the rawer, less refined tracks that really hit the target. Mzo Bullet's tribal thumping Casablanca, Mujava's infectious Mugwanti, and the deep tribal pulse of Mogrigo's Heavyweight mix and match their way around bleep-house, funky basslines, forward-thinking grooves, Afrofunk eclecticism and a smidgin of hip-hop attitude. Add this to the Shangaan Electrocompilation and you're all set to go with the new sound of South Africa.
