They first piqued our attention with a cover of Kate Bush's Cloudbusting, so it comes as no surprise that Wild Nothing are children of the 1980s. That decade's fingerprints were daubed liberally all over the US quartet's debut, Gemini, and the same rule applies two years on. Fans of '80s throwbacks, C86 bands and gauzy shoegaze won't swoon over Nocturne, but with audible references to Talk Talk and Tears for Fears, this album is plugged with quality aural references. Jack Tatum's fixation with a similar pulsating tempo and tone does wear a little thin, but Through the Grass's airy shimmer creates a reverie to drift away to, and the shy swagger of Only Heather and Shadow throb too gleefully to write off.
