Will Fall Out Boy some day be as influential as the Sex Pistols? Chances are that Pete Wentz co have already inspired as many angular-fringed youngsters to form bands as the punks once did.
Still, to be fair, Surrey quintet You Me at Six do strive to give the emo sound their own flavour, weaving as much melody as possible between the obligatory jerky power riffs on their second album. When they strike it lucky, songs such as The Consequence pack an agreeable punch akin to Green Day’s more cumbersome moments. Then again, Josh Franceschi’s “angry young man” routine does get a bit tiresome, while the acoustic, almost poppy Liquid Confidence just sounds bizarrely out of place. Still, there are worse albums your bedroom-dwelling teenager could listen to. www.youmeatsix.co.uk
