In Yuck's world, it's still 1991. Here's a band that hark back to a time when Dinosaur Jr, Sonic Youth, Teenage Fanclub and My Bloody Valentine were still very much in their pomp, and when shoegazing was still acceptable in certain social circles. But this latest freak scene isn't simply about replicating what's gone by already, and Yuck, who count former Cajun Dance Party members in their midst, have an attractive dynamism and some creative drive to their tunes. Georgiaand Get Awayare scruffy, sloppy and stroppy in all the right ways, a brace of ramshackle anthems that are unlikely but highly effective earworms thanks to the band's fondness for rich, simple melodies.
