The line-ups for a clutch of small festivals have been announced recently. The annual Le Chéile festival will return to various venues in Oldcastle, Co Meath on the August bank holiday weekend. This year’s festival will see performances by Mick Flannery, Fight Like Apes, Jack L, Bats, Not Squares, Jerry Fish and the Mudbug Club and more.

In the same county on the same weekend, an all-day charity event dubbed Ceol for Kayley will be held at Gormalough, Navan, on August 1st, and will feature more than 20 of the county’s up-and-coming musical acts.

The same weekend will see Ireland’s oldest music festival – the Ballyshannon Folk Trad Festival – celebrate its 33rd year. Lúnasa, Andy Irvine, Solas and Eleanor McEvoy play the Donegal event.

And the initial acts for this year’s Sligo Live Sessions (October 21st-25th) are Mary Chapin Carpenter with Tift Merritt and Crooked Still, and the Alan Kelly Quartet with Eddi Reader
