Soprano Celine Byrne is back at the National Concert Hall tonight, offering a selection of arias (by Gounod, Dvorak, Puccini, Delibes, Catalani and Balfe) as well as a selection of Irish arrangements) with the RTÉ NSO. The evening’s purely orchestral fare includes pieces by Dvorak, Puccini, Fauré, Wallace and Ó Riada.

The 2012 Lismore Music Festival is offering a performance of Rossini’s Barber of Seville in the grounds of Lismore Castle on Saturday and Sunday. Dieter Kaegi directs and the cast is headed by Owen Gihooly as Figaro (above), Javier Abreu as Count Almaviva and Pervin Chakar as Rosina.

The festival also includes a programme of piano duets by Dearbhla and Finghin Collins at Salterbridge House, Cappoquin on Saturday afternoon, and a performance of Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle at St Carthage’s Cathedral, Lismore, on Sunday afternoon (both with 2pm starting times).
