A unique production originally devised and staged by Mayo's Linenhall Arts Centre is going on a short nationwide tour this month. The Music Makers: The Craft of Music on Tour is a music and film performance that pays homage to the art of those who craft instruments. Last summer, Dublin-based film-maker Myles O'Reilly (who has made performance videos for James Vincent McMorrow, Villagers and Sinéad O'Connor) visited the workshops of four Mayo-based craftspeople, and filmed them as they went about their work. The resulting footage will be screened at the show, and trad musicians Julie Langan (fiddle), Brian Lofthouse (guitar/mandolin), John Butler (uilleann pipes) and Finbarr Naughton (fiddle, mandolin) will perform live using the same instruments. The tour begins next Friday in Belmullet, Co Mayo, and goes on to visit Newbridge, Blanchardstown, Drogheda and Sligo. iti.ms/QFE0WK
