Devon Sproule has the most irresistible voice, capable of captivating folky, jazzy, Americana with signature twists and turns. One suspects that she is a free spirit who like to drift off to whatever takes her fancy (put it down to being raised in a commune). This is where fellow Canadian Mike O'Neill (below with Sproule) comes in. On Sproule's website she features "Low-key Karaoke", a "remote duet project of sorts" for which she videos herself singing the harmony of a well-known song. Visitors can sing along and even send a video of their performance. Longtime musician O'Neill did just that, which led to them co-writing and recording this bunch of light indie pop. At times the fit isn't quite right, but against that there is a gorgeous understated freshness in the melodies, and their voices are made for harmony. devonsproule.com
