The problem with Love to Love You Donna is the problem with all remix albums. Whatever about the original source material – and, in the case of Donna Summer, you're talking a mix of the seminal, the stellar and the so-so – the workings of the remixer may well give cause for concern. Here, the late queen of disco receives treatments and reworkings that are both utterly majestic and downright minging. Krystal Klear's sweep through Our Love belongs in the former category, a lovingly punctuated slab of new-school disco. Others who hit the right mark include Giogio Moroder retweaking Love to Love You Baby with elan and Laidback Luke moving MacArthur Park to another planet. On the other hand, Masters of Work, surprisingly, are less successful, with Last Dance lacking any sort of distinction. For completists only. donnasummer.com
