MUSIC NEWS:A New York-based Dubliner is making a dent in the US Billboard Dance Chart for the second time in less than a year.

Martin Clancy, a producer and musician who is serving as artist-in-residence at New York's Seaport Music Festival, was surprised to hear that You Can't Stop the Rainentered the chart at No 34 last week.

It follows on from a similar placing for the Martin Clancy and Witness Protection Programme song Flat Foot, which was picked up by club DJs across the US and further afield last summer, and subsequently spent nine weeks in the Top 40 of the Billboard Dance Chart.

You Can't Stop the Rainhas been remixed by the likes of US dance DJs Richard Morel and Chris Cox, further boosting its club credibility.

"At my age you have to be careful of too much sudden excitement!" he joked. "It's important to keep the simple focus on making the tunes and finding interesting people to collaborate with."
