Romanian born Elena Mosuc has been around for some time, principally associated with the Zurich opera house, where she has appeared in most of the standard lyric opera repertoire. In recent years, she has had a number of guest appearances to some acclaim, mostly in the major European opera houses. While the title of this recital is Donizetti Heroines she includes the great bel canto Bellini aria Casta Diva as a bonus. Mosuc has a warm expressive lyric soprano voice with a vibrato that can morph into a wobble when under pressure. Her finer notes show her to have considerable insight into Donizetti's vocal writing, and her technique is up to the varied demands of the material on this disc. sonyclassical.ch
