- Star soundtracks:Paul McCartney, Karen O and U2 have bagged Golden Globe nominations for their contributions to soundtracks. U2 and Macca are nominated in the Best Original Song category, while Ms O's work on Where the Wild Things Areis up for Best Original Score.

- High school musical:Bon Iver has released a live album recorded at a charity gig at Justin Vernon's former high school in Wisconsin. A Decade With Dukefeatures Vernon collaborating with a jazz ensemble from the school.

- One less Chili:Sources in the US say that Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante has left the band to concentrate on his solo career.

- Ragged gathering:Three Irish acts will play the first gig promoted by the Ragged Words blog on Sunday. Adrian Crowley, Hunter-Gatherer and The Holy Roman Army will hit Dublin's Twisted Pepper at 8pm. Tickets are €10.
