Always larger than life, and now larger than his death 15 years ago, Fela Kuti's entire catalogue of some 50 albums is scheduled for another re-release, this time on New York label Knitting Factory. Founder of afrobeat, political activist and provocateur, Fela's music maintains its international resonance with afrobeat combos resident in many cities around the world including Dublin. This new 2CD Best Of, curated by hip-hop artist Akon, heads up the release programme and consists of 12 mighty expositions of the genre including the fiery agitation of Everything Scatter , a stinging critique of skin bleaching, Yellow Fever , and an extended brooding Sorrow Tears and Blood about the Soweto riots of 1976. The deluxe edition contains a DVD of Fela at Glastonbury in 1984.
