American act Haim have cancelled their appearance at this year's Electric Picnic festival.

In a handwritten note published on Twitter, the band blamed the move on the recording of their second album. “We’d hoped to be done with recording but as it turns out, we’re at a critical point of finishing up and need to stay close to home until its complete.”

The band cancelled performances at festivals and cities including Way Out West, Tivoli, Frequency, Zurich Open Air, Reading, Leeds and Electric Picnic. The band last played here in 2014.

The Electric Picnic takes place on September 2nd to 4th. Among the headlines are LCD Soundsystem, Lana Del Rey and the Chemical Brothers. The festival sold out in record time.
