Five albums in as many years is a work rate that contemporary major-name artists (excepting Prince, perhaps) could only dream of engaging with, but Norwegian electronica/pop singer and songwriter Hanne Kolstø views her output from 2011 as part therapy, part art project.
In 2010 she set herself the task of documenting her life so that she could understand herself better.
In doing so Kolstø does everyone a favour, as her fifth album manages to dig deep into her thoughts while delivering some of the best Scandi electro-pop you’ll hear this month or year.
Smoothly percussive (Bordermind), swoonsome (Mono) and honest (I Hate You Don't Leave Me), While We Still Have Light channels intelligence and assertiveness into well-crafted pop music.
Can we have five more by 2020, please?
