History will record that dubstep and drum’n’bass originated Over Here, but should also recall that such bass sounds had quite a following Over There too. Long before Skrillex had his brostep brainwave and brought bass to the attention of the American mainstream, Joe Nice (below) was a passionate ambassador and advocate for dubstep in the US.

After first falling under dubstep’s spell at Baltimore’s Starscape club, the one-time Bmore champion came into the dubstep frame as the co-founder of the DubWar night in New York in 2005. Aside from pushing the dubstep agenda in the US, Nice has also figured highly in Europe, with dates at such seminal clubs as DMZ and FWD>>, as well as airtime on the influential Rinse FM.

Nice is joined by Paddy Bateman in the main room while Decoy's Eoin Donovan, Finbar Robbins and Anton Partridge take over the hip- hop basement. JIM CARROLL
