They formed about four years ago, operating under the rather naive moniker of Harry & Alfie, which made them seem more like the house band for Enid Blyton’s Secret Seven parties than anything else.
But the Hudson-Taylor brothers have been beavering away, taking on busking duties before graduating to support slots and headline shows. Supporting Jake Bugg last year brought the pair a wider and possibly more appreciative audience.
Their busking years have stood to them – there's a charming looseness to the Hudson Taylor's channelling of Simon & Garfunkel-like folk/pop. The pair have also honed, over the years, a knack for decent pop melodies (Just a Thought, Battles, Don't Tell Me, For the Last Time, Off the Hook).
These, along with their 20-something cheekbones, will clearly reap dividends.
