Bell X1 guitarist David Geraghty's third solo album sees him operating under a band name for the first time, but the cut of the Kildare man's jib remains low- key and laid-back. There is much to admire here, from the soft accordion wheeze of opening track Mezzanine through to the tumbling folk-pop of Joy Is a Lion and the sombre slow-drip of Golden Guilt. Geraghty's soulful voice is suited to the mainly acoustic framework of this collection. But apart from the grumble and murmur of In the Groove and the bluesy stomp of Man With a Mission, there is a danger of these gentle tracks passing the listener by. That would be a shame: given time and patience, these swoonsome songs exhibit what a good writer Geraghty is. joinmeinthepines.com
