Thought the May Weekend Bank Holiday was busy? Cop a pair of brown eyes over the listings for this weekend – it’s busier than Oxford Circus tube station at rush hour.

Over the weekend you can see the likes of New Order, Happy Mondays and Anna Calvi at Belfast’s Titanic Lockdown; Horslips and former Rolling Stones’ guitarist Mick Taylor at Donegal’s Rory Gallagher International Tribute Festival; Bressie, Maverick Sabre, Aslan, Status Quo and Saw Doctors at Wexford’s Strawberry Festival; Not Squares, Mmoths and RSAG at Down’s Pigstock; and The Saturdays in Tipperary.

Towering above all of these is Dublin’s three-day Forbidden Fruit, which features (deep breath) Leftfield, Friendly Fires, New Order, Death Cab for Cutie, Death in Vegas, Wilco, James Vincent McMorrow, Beirut, Mazzy Star and many more.

Stamina? Check. Enthusiasm? Check. Money? Er, we’ll get back to you on that one. TONY CLAYTON-LEA
