Indianapolis sisters Lily and Madeleine Jurkiewicz align themselves with the by-now assured and often beguiling tradition of indie folk, and judging by Fumes, their second album, they fully know how that genre might compel you to sit back for a moment and take stock of your day. Indie folk/pop sibling acts are currently riding roughshod over mainstream territory – between The Staves and First Aid Kit (and, at a stylistic pinch, Haim), there doesn't seem as if there's much room to manoeuvre. Yet Lily and Madeleine, each in their late teens, appear to have this lark well and truly sussed. If the sound of appealing yet aching voices bugs you, move away quickly. If, however, you have a liking for lilting voices channelling Laurel Canyon vibes , then you'll really love Lily and her sister. lilandmad.com
