It was bright, loud, fun and Beyoncé was very small on the stage – nine-year-old cousins Ava Connolly and Kate Devlin, who went to the Croke Park concert with their mothers, give their views

Ava: I thought it was amazing, and everyone was so happy

I had never been to a concert before. There were so many people there. Everyone was dancing and they were all so happy. The last time I was at Croke Park was for a Galway-Dublin match, and people weren't dancing.

The best thing about it was when they brought water on to the stage and started kicking it around, herself and the dancers. I think it was a really good idea and it looked really fun. I’d have liked to be up there too with them.

Beyoncé told us we were very supportive and that we were one of the loudest crowds she had ever had.

The lights were so bright. It felt magical. You could see all the people at the concert having fun on the big screens, and there was fire too as well as the water.

I loved when they sang Formation and they were all bobbing their heads up and down to the music, that was very funny and very good.

She sang Purple Rain and the crowd copied it and were singing along with her.

It was kind of disappointing when it was over because I wanted to see more. I thought it was amazing, and everyone was so happy.

Kate: My favourite song was Halo

I’ve been to a little concert before; the X-Factor at the Three Arena, but I’d never been to a big concert, and I’d never been to Croke Park. I didn’t think Croke Park was going to be that massive.

It was so nice that everyone was cheering and so happy. We were worried Beyoncé might not get to Dublin in time for the concert because she was watching Wimbledon in the afternoon, but my mum told me she had her own jet and it wouldn’t take her long to get to Dublin.

The best part for me was there was a paddling pool on the stage and the dancers were all splashing water at the audience and it was really nice to see everyone getting water on their head.

The difference between seeing her on YouTube and in the concert is that at the concert, she was really really small on the stage. But we could see her big on the big screens.

My favourite song was Halo. She sang that at the end.
