Heard the one about the Yorkshire man who moved from London to Dublin not only to be with his new partner but to record his debut album in a garden shed? Say hello to Max Greenwood, currently a music theory tutor at the Dublin offices of the Brighton Institute of Modern Music, but also the brains behind an album that pitches reference points as diverse as Coldplay and Jamie Cullum. In the cold light of day, such a blend might scare the tastemakers, but if you listen long and often enough you'll detect a solid, crafty songwriter at work. Tunes such as Song of Love, King of Dreamers, Heavens Collide and the title track highlight Greenwood's lyrical concerns (in essence, the gap between daydreams and nightmares, and how to bridge it) in persuasive, smooth ways.
