Released in 1992,
Your Arsenal
was Morrissey's third album proper, and though it wasn't quite the masterpiece fans hoped for, its hard-edged glam-rockabilly sound won him legions of new followers. The album featured his new touring band, including guitarists Boz Boorer and Alain Whyte. They rip confidently through the
Peter Gunn-
like riffs of
You're Gonna Need Someone on Your Side,
the Bolan boogie of
Certain People I Know,
and the goosestepping stomp of the much-misinterpreted
The National Front Disco. You're the One for Me, Fatty
is a little too slight, but
We Hate It When Our Friends Become Successful
and
I Know It's Gonna Happen Someday
are worth a revisit. The bonus DVD features a US concert that captures the spawning of Mozmania.
