This weekend will see the opening of a new music and comedy venue in Dublin’s suburbs. Captain’s Live, a venue affiliated with the Captain America’s restaurant chain, will open its doors in Blanchardstown tomorrow with a two-day musical extravaganza.
A host of Irish bands and DJs will entertain the masses across the weekend from 6pm till late. Tomorrow will see sets by Declan O’Rourke, The Mighty Stef, The Chapters, Hoarsebox, The Revellions, Kid Karate and more.
Sunday sees 2009 Choice Music Prize nominees CODES headline a bill that includes The Urges, The Rags, Bipolar Empire, Sixteen Layers and Stone Motion. On the decks will be Sinéad Ní Mhorda of FM104 and Jeff Flynn and Trevor Dietz of indie clubs Antics and Trashed. Entry is free, but tickets must be obtained from www.captainslive.com.
The new venue is the second of its kind, following the opening of its Tallaght branch last year. The Blanchardstown venue will be open seven nights a week.
Mondays and Fridays will be devoted to live music, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays will feature indie discos, Wednesdays are rock’n’roll karaoke nights, while The Captain’s Comedy Club is on Sunday evenings.
