More than 200 free live music events – across all genres – take place around Ireland on June 21st as part of the Love:Live music initiative, aka Ireland’s National Music Day.

The day-long celebration of Irish music (presented by Music Network in association with RTÉ Lyric FM, and funded by the Arts Council and the Department of Arts, Heritage, and the Gaeltacht) will see thousands of musicians take part. One of the primary highlights is La Ceoil, a free showcase gig in Dublin’s Meeting House Square, from 6pm. Acts include We Banjo 3, DIT Traditional Music Ensemble and rock act The Walls.

Other nationwide events include a collaboration between singer/composer Julie Feeney and violinist Cora Venus Lunny in Clonmel, and the partnering of Iarnrod Eireann and the Drogheda Samba Festival for a countrywide train station samba party.
