“Earth flows as a collection of 13 songs from throughout my life, songs I have written about living here on our planet together.”

At 70, the great man is in stirring eco-warrior voice, both in song and in sentiment, and he colours these live recordings from his current tour, which recently visited Dublin, with wildlife sounds to help illustrate his mission.

Typically, Young is over the top - but that is one of the traits that makes him so endearing. He feeds off the youthful energy of his backing band led by Willie Nelson's sons Micah and Lucas, making his point via gentle acoustic country folk or, more dramatically, louder and longer explorations of his electric self. This collaboration is key to the renewal of wizened songs such as After the Goldrush while Love & Only Love and the more recent Big Box and Seed Justice also shine, albeit at testing length. neilyoung.com
