Dublin promoters Bodytonic have teamed up with our very own On the Record, Jim Carroll, for a series of gigs that will take place over the coming months. The first On the Record Presents: 2012 gig will take place at Dublin’s Twisted Pepper next Wednesday, March 2nd. The series aims to highlight the acts, both Irish and international, who are expected to make an impact over the next year or two.
Next Wednesday's gig will be headlined by Dublin act Jennifer Evans and the Ripe Intent. Evans recently appeared on Other Voices, and is recording her debut album after releasing the critically acclaimed EP Salient Points last year.
Also playing is Co Clare native Daithí Ó Drónaí, a fiddler who mixes trad with experimental electronica and pop, and Galway pop trio The Kanyu Tree, who recently had their song People Street remixed by Jape's Richie Egan. Ali Shaheed Muhammad of hip-hop luminaries A Tribe Called Quest has also worked in a production capacity on the band's forthcoming album.
Admission to the gig is €10 in advance, or €12 on the door. bodytonicmusic.com
