AILBHE MALONEgot a great anniversary present from Girls Aloud
TRACK OF THE WEEKNeon by Queen of Hearts. Fresh out of working with Stuart Price (Madonna, Kylie) and Sound of Arrows, the new single from professional woman of mystery Queen of Hearts is a corker. There are definitely touches of Goldfrapp, but QOH isn't afraid to go for the pop jugular with the chorus – a big whoosh of synth and bass with more determined strut than a Round One contestant on America's Next Top Model.
How fitting, that for Pop Corner’s 100th edition (does this mean we’re, like, actual critics now? No! Ed) there has been a concrete statement about Girls Aloud’s return to the studio. Lifelong GA collaborators Xenomania tweeted “Prepping to go in the studio with @NadineCoyleNOW for new GA sessions... New GA sessions with @NicolaRoberts @KimberleyJWalsh @SarahNicHarding in the studio over the last week.”
Nadine followed up Xenomania’s tweet with “be prepared to be amazed!”
Adele’s taken desperate measure of late to stay unnoticed in public.
Speaking to Matt Lauer on NBC in the US, she explained that the reason she goes unrecognised is down to her, um, interesting outfit choices. “The other day I walked through Trafalgar Square. I was in my pyjamas. I had floral tracksuit bottoms on, a green coat and pink pumps. Luckily I had a massive umbrella so no one recognised me.”
Sounds like they were trying to save you the embarrassment, love.
Beth Ditto’s looking out for Rihanna’s well-being, she told Time Out.
The Gossip singer is anxious that Rihanna isn’t having a say in her image – “I know what it’s like to have people paying attention to you and I think there’s more to her than her public persona. It would be really interesting to ask her about that.
“I try not to judge because maybe she’s having an incredible, expressive sexual moment in her life – a sexual awakening ... I would genuinely like to know what she thinks about it.”
