Here come the Girls says AILBHE MALONE, and not before time
* TRACK OF THE WEEK: Sound of the Underground by Girls Aloud
It’s happening! It’s finally happening! More than three years of Pop Corner speculating, crossing our fingers and wishing on stars, and finally Girls Aloud have announced that . . . they’re going to make an announcement. The group launched a new website, and a twitter, with a 10-day countdown. The group are 10 years old this year, so by the time the next edition of this column comes out we’ll know what’s up. And if it’s an album we’ll cry tears of joy.
* Ke$has gone Kerouac. Well, not quite. Shes announced that she’s to release an illustrated “memoir”. The 25-year-old Die Young singer released a statement, explaining : “I’ve gone from being the worst waitress in LA to living out my childhood dreams of singing my songs to people all over the world.” She continued: “Sometimes, it feels as if the last few years have encompassed a few decades. You might have heard my voice on the radio, seen me onstage and on the red carpet, or in a music video, but that’s only a part of the story. In these pages, I’m revealing a more complete picture of what my life is really like. It’s not all glamorous and it’s not all pretty, but it’s all real.” Will it come with colouring pencils to fill in the drawings too?
* Niall Horan, the Prince of Mullingar, is still acting coy about his lovelife, despite the Mirror reporting that Demi Lovato admits that they are “loosely dating”. In an interview with Fabulous magazine, Horan explained that he was lazy in love. “I’m still single. Not necessarily looking, but obviously if the right person came along . . . I’m so lazy, that when we’re off I just want to sleep, I just like to chill, do nothing and sit on the couch for the weekend.” All he wants is a chat, really. “Cute, nice eyes, nice smile and carefree like me. Someone I can have fun with, and I know this sounds stupid, but someone you can hold a conversation with on a first date.”
