AILBHE MALONEweeps as Ireland's young board the boat to Liverpool
TRACK OF THE WEEK
Born This Wayby Lady Gaga. Today m'lady debuts the title track of her next album. We're not even sure why we're writing an entry for this week's Pop Corner. If we had our way, we'd just print the lyrics to Born This Way over and over until we'd reached the word count. Not that we've heard it, mind. But we're pretty confident it's going to change not only the world of pop but also the entire universe. Then again, ask us what we think next week, after we've had some time to live with it.
Kimberly Walsh is still trying to CPR Girls Aloud back to life. While Cheryl and Nadine duke it out, lovely Kimberly's looking towards a Mums Aloud tour. "I don't think we'll ever officially break up, to be honest," she tells Cosmopolitan.
“It’ll be more a case of having breaks to go out and do little things we want to do, then coming back again. We’ll definitely tour again. We’re a live act. That’s where we come in to our own. Who knows – we might even have babies on board next time!”
N-DUBZ WATCH
With no Brit nominations, The Dubz are feeling hard done by. “A lot of people up for a Brit award this year haven’t sold half as many records as us. We just don’t get the recognition,” whinged Fazer to the Daily Star. “What do we have to do? Do we have to get naked?” added Dappy, with typical restraint.
Unfortunately, The X Factorisn't going to hit Dublin next season, possibly scared off by the triple threat of Jedward, Louis Walsh and Mary Byrne (why can't she be our Eurovision bid?). A show spokesman said: "There are only so many places we can go for auditions. We went to Dublin last year but we haven't been to Liverpool so we thought we should do it this year. Obviously this is a blow to the Irish contestants, but it's only a short hop across the Irish Sea to Liverpool."
