TRACK OF THE WEEK
Call the Shotsby Girls Aloud.
The Girls Aloud “hiatus” grows ever longer, and the claims of them “still being friends” and working on “solo projects” seem to enhance the “inevitability of a break-up”. And yet, the evidence points to light at the end of the proverbial tunnel. Next year will be the 10th anniversary of the group’s formation, and manager Hilary Shaw has said: “Everybody wants them to make a comeback and it will be next year. It is their 10th anniversary, so there will be something.” In light of this, we’ve made GA our track of the week.
In other Girls Aloud news, it seems that the solo effort of Nicola Roberts is set to be – pause for dramatic effect – amazing. She’s already worked with Joe Mount (Metronomy) and now it seems she’s working with Diplo and Switch (the same team who produced Beyoncé’s latest, Girls). We’re not surprised she’s so on-trend – she was always the coolest member of GA. True fact: Pop Corner once met Nicola Roberts, and she did the dance routine to The Promise for us. Legend.
We can’t wait for Mariah Carey to give birth to her twin babies. Mariah’s been using her bump as a canvas recently – painting it as a butterfly first, then as a festive Easter egg. But as the due date draws closer, details about the babies’ room have emerged – and they don’t disappoint. The refurb cost a reported $100,000, including a $30,000 crib. Mariah said she “wanted to create a beautiful, tranquil, cozy environment for the babies. Everything matches, but pieces are individualised to celebrate the twins as separate entities.”
Nicki Minaj has decided she hopes to – you guessed it – release a perfume in the coming year. She promises it won’t be sickly sweet like other sleb brands (cough, Britney). She says: “I like scents that feel summery, but have a va-va-voom. I want to smell like a sexy and confident woman, not like candy.”
